Could you keep a male betta with an angelfish and a honey gourami in a 44 gallon aquarium?

Question: Could you keep a male betta with an angelfish and a honey gourami in a 44 gallon aquarium?

I have a 44 gallon aquarium and was wondering if a male betta, a honey gourami and an angel fish could be kept together? Also could a male betta be kept with a gourami in a 20 gallon aquarium? la la: i am very sure the betta is going to eat the angel and gourami, who are both twice the size.(sarcasm alert~)

Risky as gourami and betta may fight, and a large angelfish will probably find the betta's long fins just too tempting. Gourami and Angel, OK in the 44gal, and room for a few more compatible fish Betta in the 20gal with some small peaceful tankmates. Ian

Technically you can if it is well decorated, but should you? Not really, it is a risky and unideal way to keep your fish, because you are talking about 3 territorial fish that can end up fighting (those gouramis are quite peaceful and will get harassed by the cichlids and betta). To me it's simply a poor way to go about stocking the tank no matter how you look at it. Ideally you should choose one type and then keep calm and peaceful community fish with them. Honey Gouramis are your best bet because you can keep more than one without aggression issues, unlike the angel cichlids and betta.

Oh my goodness no. You betta and angels will not get along. And all three species are HIGHLY territorial in nature. And I was wondering what kind of filter you run and how often you change the water in your tank. Gourami by nature are dirtier then angels and other fish. Angels by nature are very sensitive to water quality as are betta fish. Outside of cautioning not to house them together, I would recommend adding Zeolite to your filter or tank. This will ensure a healthier water quality for the angels
