Angelfish

Question: Do angelfish prefer to be in a couple or on their own?

I am thinking of getting some angelfish for my tropical amazon themed aquarium. do they need to be in a pair or on their own ? thanks :D

Angelfish pair bond, a bonded pair are ideal with no other Angels in the tank (unless the tank is over 100 gallons). A bonded pair can be very territorial. Unfortunately you cannot visually sex juveniles, the only way to get a proper bonded pair is either buy a pair of adults that have been seen spawning, or buy a group of juveniles, wait for a pair to bond out of that, and rehome the rest. A bonded pair will be quite faithful and dedicated to one another. But if you just go out and buy two random Angels, you could very easily buy two males which could mature and kill one another, or two females which could also take a dislike to one another! If you buy a trio, and two pair bond out of that and you don't remove the third in time, the pair will take it upon themselves to kill off the third wheel! So yes, pairs work best, as long as they're a proper bonded pair!

Hello, Angel Fish are community fish and shud never b bought solemly alone. You shud always buy around 3 or more. Good Luck. SR

Well i had two angels once and one killed the other one, angelfish are semi aggressive so yo never know what your gong to get ones are very nice but others kill each other

Angels do better with company & I usually go w/ a school of 5-7.

Angels love to pair off but can also live in a group without to many issues unless two of them decide to spawn. Once they forms pairs they can get aggressive with other angelfish, especially if they are protecting eggs.
