Angelfish pair bond, a bonded pair are ideal with no other Angels in the tank (unless the tank is over 100 gallons). A bonded pair can be very territorial. Unfortunately you cannot visually sex juveniles, the only way to get a proper bonded pair is either buy a pair of adults that have been seen spawning, or buy a group of juveniles, wait for a pair to bond out of that, and rehome the rest. A bonded pair will be quite faithful and dedicated to one another. But if you just go out and buy two random Angels, you could very easily buy two males which could mature and kill one another, or two females which could also take a dislike to one another! If you buy a trio, and two pair bond out of that and you don't remove the third in time, the pair will take it upon themselves to kill off the third wheel! So yes, pairs work best, as long as they're a proper bonded pair! |
